The commercial vehicle sector is at a pivotal moment as UK businesses grapple with sustainability targets, evolving legislation, and the practical realities of fleet operations, therefore understanding the true state of decarbonisation has never been more important.

That's why the Commercial Vehicle Decarbonisation Report was created - to provide the industry with a clear, data-driven picture of where Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV) and Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV) operators currently stand on their journey to net zero.

Based on research conducted with Commercial Vehicle (CV) Show visitors, the report offers valuable insight into adoption levels, barriers, infrastructure challenges, and future expectations across the sector.

From generating the initial concept, developing the questionnaire, research analysis, content creation, design and final publication, the Nobull Agency team delivered the project from start to finish.

The commercial vehicle industry is inundated with opinions about decarbonisation, but what was missing was a concise report grounded in real operator feedback.

Working alongside the CV Show, Nobull developed a plan to create  thought leadership content that would provide genuine market intelligence rather than speculation. The objective was simple: survey industry professionals, analyse the data, and present the findings in a format that decision-makers could easily understand and act upon.

Designing the research framework

Nobull developed the research structure, ensuring the survey captured insights across key themes including:

• Fleet composition

• Electric vehicle adoption

• Alternative fuel usage

• Infrastructure readiness

• Barriers to decarbonisation

• Net-zero confidence levels

• Future fleet planning

The resulting survey gathered responses from over 170 UK-based LCV and HGV fleet operators, creating a robust dataset that reflected a broad range of industries, fleet sizes and operational requirements.

Nobull analysed the survey findings to identify the key trends emerging from both sectors. Rather than simply presenting statistics, Nobull developed a clear overarching storyline that became the foundation on which the report was built.

• The LCV market is in an "active adoption phase", with many operators already deploying electric vehicles.

• The HGV market remains fragmented, with diesel still dominant and no clear replacement technology emerging.

• The question is no longer whether operators want to decarbonise, but how quickly practical barriers can be overcome.

• Infrastructure is the defining challenge across both sectors.

Bringing the data to life visually

Nobull created a modern layout that combined charts, infographics and pull-out quotes to highlight the most important insights and ensure readers could quickly absorb key information.

The publication not only communicated the research effectively but also reflected the professionalism and authority of the CV Show brand. The report now serves as a valuable resource for fleet operators, manufacturers, suppliers and policymakers seeking a clearer understanding of how decarbonisation is progressing in the real world.

Nobull led every stage of the process. The result is a piece of industry thought leadership that informs today's conversations and helps shape the future of commercial vehicle decarbonisation in the UK.
